I stayed in my office until 1:45-2:00ish grading final exams. In the elevator to leave it hit me that I needed something solid to absorb the jitters from the three cups of coffee I'd had. I decided to wait until Dixon and get the bean burrito with green sauce from Taco Bell that seems to work best in situations like this.
After I gave my order, the unfortunate soul on the other side of the speaker box asked, "Will that be for here or to go?"
I just gaped at the speaker for a second, then heard his sharp intake of breath and a quick disconnect.
Even in the privacy of my car, I didn't have the heart to laugh. After all, this was my second attempt to get to the Taco Bell. The first time, instead of going straight, I turned right and found myself again on I-80, heading back toward Davis. My prior state of caffeine-induced alertness was replaced by stupidity, I guess. Just glad to see it was sort of in the air at that time and place and I didn't have to suffer it alone (for once).

Frida Kahlo
Saturday, June 14, 2008 – Sunday, September 28, 2008
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Frida Kahlo’s birth, this exhibition—organized by SFMOMA and the Walker Art Center with renowned Kahlo biographer Hayden Herrera—brings together approximately 50 paintings spanning the artist’s career, from 1926 to 1954. Focusing on Kahlo’s hauntingly seductive and often brutal self-portraits, the presentation will elucidate the progression of her practice, reflecting both her private obsessions and political concerns. In conjunction with the exhibition, the Museum will present a small selection of photographs from the Vicente Wolf Photography Collection, including portraits of Kahlo by preeminent photographers of the period, as well as personal snapshots of the artist with family and friends from the artist’s own photo albums—some of which have never before been published or exhibited.
