Even if I had to look up the author of the short story "La sandía" several times, I have retained the image of the "fruta oxymorón" for half of my life. Oxymoronic fruit because of it's cool, calm green outside and hot, vibrant red inside. Since then, I have tried to note not just oxymorons (in fact, my irony deficiency sometimes prevents me from capturing an oxymoron when I see or hear it). Of more interest are opposites, ambiguity, juxtapositions, contrasts, and even contradictions (But, certainly not to "catch" others in them, but because I am a walking...?).
-Manic/depressive resident needing Ron's assistance (he's working as the manager of the complex at Selva) in a very very manic phase. Wonder how long those can last...Linda thought it was meth-induced.
-the word "ain't"/a reference to Pagliacci juxtaposed in the song "The Tears of a Clown"
-the lyric "You're lookin' good, you're outta sight" in "Let's Groove Tonight"
-The song "We are family" made me think back to my former place of employment and of the acronym forced down our throats and making us gag FAMILY = "Forget About Me, I Love You"/the photo I saw of "The Girls" (LC, RC, MMM) taken this summer showed that those bonds at work form or they don't and they can't be forced.
-Nothing doing/social whirl Ouch! I'm trying to cram a summer vacation's worth of activities into three days.
-Catching a dismaying glimpse of my running reflection in a window, I almost decided to stop exercising altogether.
